| Standing out from the crowd in this day and age is easier said than done – enter Matt Cooper, one of a new breed of DJ that is revolutionising the scene through technical wizardry and pulverising beats. This is the future - Brace yourselves!Matt’s massive passion for music came from travelling the length and breadth of the UK throughout the 90’s taking in clubs, gigs, festivals, and all the usual shenanigans that come from late nights and early mornings! Having seen some mind-blowing sets from the likes of Sven Vath and Carl Cox he was hooked on both dance music and Djing…Since then Matt has embraced all the technological changes that have emerged over the last few years. The advent of the Pioneer CDJ 1000, DJM 1000 mixer and EFX Units have allowed Matt to blaze through his sets in a frenzy of looping, sampling, distorting and scratching with bucket loads of effects thrown in for good measure! Attempting to define Matt’s sound is like staying dry at Glastonbury – tricky! The music is a combination of tough beats, sublime melodies and throbbing bass all delivered in a tight mix. When everything comes together the music feels alive, like its leaping out of the speakers and tearing straight at you! As well as guesting at many nights all over the UK, Matt’s main residency is at the Dirty Disco. Matt has been an integral part of all these nights sometimes starting and finishing them – another sign of his versatility as a DJ. As well as this Matt has just won the Mixmag’s Future DJ’s competition, an accolade which will see his stock rise in the publics eye still further. Not one to rest on his laurels, Matt, alongside his good friend and housemate, Filthy Rich (‘Dirty Freak’ and ‘Push It Harder’) have plans to set up their own record label. The label will serve as a tool to put out their own productions and those from other like minds. Speaking of Rich – between the pair of them there are serious plans for a selection of joint sets incorporating 6 CDJ’s, 2 Mixers and 2 EFX units – I told you to brace yourselves, this is only the beginning…… |
